About

University College London Hospital a two year £2.5 million painting project.

In early Spring 2003 we were approached by a company comprising of 3 very well known contractors ( Amec, Balfour Beatty and Haydon Young ) calling themselves B.C.J.V. Ltd.  They had formed with the sole purpose of constructing the new “state of the art” hospital for University College London, a high profile Central London project under constant Public and Government scrutiny.

The project was progressing satisfactorily but early signs suggested that the named painting contractor was not going to be up to the considerable task in hand. Enter Brook Decorations, initially to take on the role of spraywork to the vast areas of plant rooms, but subsequently to carry out the entire decorative requirement on this most prestigious of contracts.

Work commenced during April 2003 and was finalised amidst considerable fanfair in January 2006 with barely any absences during the entire period. All programmes were adhered to successfully and with precision sequencing, planning and execution the completion date was complied with in all respects.

As is usual the final weeks of this major project proved to be extremely hectic but with a workforce in excess of 75 painters, sprayers and paperhangers supported and organised by 7 non working foremen / supervisors completion was rarely if ever in doubt.

Meticulous planning, liaison with other private trades and management permitted us to excute this £2.5million painting project over a two year period. Our work had embraced a huge range of specialist finishes  including a range of asceptic and hygenic coatings and highly resilient epoxy applications to public areas, in addition to the conventional ones and we emerged with the full plaudits expected and deserved for a superb well done!

From an initial order value less than £80,000 our agreed final account approached £2,500,000 a figure that represented extremely good value to our client and to the Health Trust alike.

The new University College London Hospital represents our single, most successful project to date and we are rightly very proud of our efforts and achievements on this project. It is by some way our largest ever job and it did serve to prove our capabilities and expertise in this field of work.
